BHA Acid also known as Beta Hydroxy Acids
Beta Hydroxy Acids are also chemical exfoliants and are oil soluble. BHAs are different from AHAs as they are able to go deeper into your pores to not only remove buildup, but also dry out excess oil otherwise known as sebum. BHAs do this by binding to your skin’s natural oils (sebum) to remove the excess sebum as well as remove the dead layers of cells that appear on the surface of your skin. This type of acid is really helpful for those with acne prone skin. Think of BHAs as useful for sun damage, acne, and rosacea.
Common type of BHA Acid
Salicylic Acid – Salicylic Acid is a BHA acid. If you have acne, then you have probably heard the name as it is a popular ingredient to help with acneic skin. Due to the properties of it being antibacterial and anti-inflammatory, it lessens bacteria growth while unclogging pores. It’s especially helpful because it doesn’t exacerbate your already inflamed skin.
