Questions from our lapree beauty Community

By the way, we have researched all the products we recommend, and these are the ones both Ashley and I (Lindsey) use. WE have put them in one place, so it is easy to access. We have them listed in categories in our online skin care shop. For additional help, we have linked them in the article as well. Enjoy!

Q:  I’m 52 and seeing typical fine lines and slight hyperpigmentation in a few places. I’ve never ventured into the world of serums. Where should I start? I’ve heard you talk about Vitamin C, peptides, retinol, and hyaluronic acid. I’m a consistent person to cleanse, tone, and moisturize, but that’s it

A: I’m so happy you asked this! The two serums I would start are the Vitamin C and the Retinol. The Vitamin C serum has antioxidant properties so protected you against pollution and other free radicals, reduces hyperpigmentation, brightens your complexion, reduces wrinkles, evens skin tone and my favorite… helps your sunscreen work more effective. You are going to want to add this in the morning. Rule of thumb: apply your serums from thinnest to thickest

Next, incorporate a retinol. Listen to both episodes 75 & 76 on our podcast, Spa Skin and Beauty, where we break down everything you need to know about retinols to make the best decision for you-as there are quite a lot of them. Go slowly when adding this in and add to your night routine. Start with once a week, then do twice and build slowly. Only use the amount the size of a pea for your face and also use an amount that size for your neck. If you are super sensitive, you can add a moisturizer prior to the retinol or use an alternative ingredient like bakuchiol.

By the way, we have all of these products listed for you in our spa shop at lindseyholder.com

Once you have those down, then add a hyaluronic acid in the am to plump and hydrate your skin. We go into that in episode 81.

Lastly, add your peptides and episode 78 goes into great detail about that. Our special discount code is HOLDER15.

I really encourage you to incorporate all of these for maximum effectiveness and give yourself about a month to add all 4.

Q: What is the cleanest and most economical way to clean my makeup brushes without ruining the bristles?

A: I love using Dr. Bronner’s unscented castile liquid soap (it’s natural and effective). I use warm to lukewarm water vs. hot as hot water can damage the bristles. I also use silicone mats and gently swipe my sudsy brushes over the mat to loosen debris. If you want to do a double cleanse, you can do your first cleanse like this:  mix two tablespoons of white vinegar in a cup with warm water and swirl your brushes; then rinse.

You can also use Micellar wash!

Q:What do you use for your neck that is clean to help the skin? I’ve seen those neck and under eye patches. Not sure if they work?

A:Yes! Those patches work!

Great products to help the neck: LINK to the NECK shop!

*Exfoliate: For cleanser versions, use a gentle enzyme

*For stronger ones, use a retinol

*Use an LED light on the neck! I LOVE the Celluma as it CURVES to the skin. WE have a discount code for you inside our lapree beauty community.

*Current body also has Neck attachment:

Everyone should be doing LED-it really is that amazing to help with collagen, elasticity and get deep to the mitochondria. On the nights you do a retinol, skip the LED as LED’s are light sensitive.

*Home microneedle roll! I like the LARGER tip in addition to the face tip that lets you microneedle your chest and legs with ease.

*Use silicone patches. I do have a full podcast on how to use the SIO patches!

*Hydrate your neck area regularly.

*Use a sunscreen in your everyday skincare routine as well. I love a great sunscreen serum to use.

I’m really into the Coola sun silk drops and their illuminating serum. *Hot tip* It makes my skin glow so nicely! It’s a little trick I use to get that extra dewy look!

Q: Do you dry brush your body and if so, do you a brush you like?

A: Yes and Yes!

*Dry brushing is excellent for your body and Ashley has a solo episode on the Spa Skin & Beauty podcast ALL about the benefits and how techniques! This is in episode 68. It’s so great for lymph drainage!

* Our favorite dry brushing products are listed in our spa shop.

*See our article in lapree insider for more Dry Brushing how To’s as well.

When Ashley and I decided to create our anti-aging skin care community we wanted it to have a special name that incorporated our vision and purpose to help other women facing the same challenges we were facing. Lapree beauty stands for: lasting, present, everyday beauty. In French it means beauty and strong warrior. Also, the LA in the beginning stands for Lindsey Ashley.
