Not only is she an assistant to one entertainer…how about a total of four
That B O G G L E S my mind.
A MUST read for any assistant who needs tips to juggle it all.
Did I mention Ninie is also a wife, mommy to THREE French Mastiffs and makes working out a top notch priority?
How in holy gumballs does she do it all?
LH: How did you become a personal assistant?
Ninie: I had just graduated college from Cal State University of Long Beach in 2003 with a degree in English. I always thought I wanted to be a High School English teacher, but began to have second thoughts once I graduated.
My dad works for Disney and I just happened to be in the right place at the right time. Lisa Rinna and Ty Treadway hosts of the Soap Net talk show Soap Talk.
I loved everything about production and the entertainment industry and realized this is what I wanted to do as a career.
Lisa and I hit it off, and I have been Lisa’s personal assistant for 9 years now!
LH: Did you have prior experience as one?
Ninie: I did not have any experience at all.
LH: You are known for being an animal lover . What types of animals do you have? Did your love for animal start your organization Arm the Animals?
Ninie: Animals are my passion! My husband and I have three Dogue De Bordeux (French Mastiffs) Pompel, Leelin, and Kalani. In case you have no idea what this breed is, they are exactly like the dog from the old movie Turner and Hooch with Tom Hanks.
We recently rescued Kalani. She was extremeley emaciated, just had puppies, and had been on the streets for a very long time in Lancaster. She was about to be euthanized and we had to save her!
She is a foster, but we fell in love and there’s no way she’s going anywhere.
My friends, Matthew Heinemeyer and Danian Rios partnered up to launch Arm the Animals , an affordable t-shirt line bent on making a fierce statement.
Arm the Animals was conceptualized and created on behalf of shelters and enable animals by “speaking for the speechless and defending the defenseless.”
Their mission statement is simple: create impactful shirts through bold imagery and help raise money for shelters by donating 20% of their gross profits.
LH: What is your daily style or routine?
Ninie: I’m not your typical celeb assistant in Hollywood. I don’t live in LA and I’m not with Lisa, Mia, Lauren, or Lyndie every single day.
I live in Orange County and work from home! I like to call myself a virtual assistant or a human Siri.
I will go to LA on occasion if one of my four bosses needs me to help them out with anything.
I spend the majority of my time in pajamas or sweats working on my blackberry and laptop from my bed or couch! I’m all about comfort; if I ever have to go run errands in LA, I keep it simple. Jeans and a tank, a tshirt, or hoodie… flip flops or Uggs!
LH: I love that you workout out but also indulge when you are craving something. How often do you workout and how do you balance your workouts while carrying such a hectic schedule? Also, what is your absolute favorite workout move?
Ninie: I’m pretty much addicted to working out and eating amazing food. I try to eat healthy and clean, but pretty much fail every time!
Contradicting, I know! Some women love shoes, makeup, or purses… I LOVE home workout dvd’s and going out and finding new restaurants to eat at. I’m not a fan of the gym at all.
I try to workout 30-60 minutes, 4-5 days a week. I find myself emailing, texting, and taking calls during my workouts. I don’t have a lot of down time. I’m on call 24/7.
I just recently ordered Les Mills Body Pump and I cannot wait to try it!!! I’m a workout DVD Junkie! I mix it up and do something different everyday.
LH: What piece of advice do you have for other assistants to keep organized & balanced?
Ninie: Always be one step ahead of them! You are their second brain! :) never assume anything..always triple check EVERYTHING!!!!
I write everything down in a big notebook, write their schedules in a calendar, and also put their schedules on my BB calendar.
Making lists is key. Don’t be afraid to ask questions if you are unsure of anything. They would rather you ask them, then you do something wrong.
I’m all about doing things with urgency and always trying to do everything right the first time.
It is so important to make sure you take a little time for yourself too! Working out gives me that extra energy I need to help get me through the day!
PS...it is 1030pm on a Friday night and I am working on some last minute travel for one of my bosses as I do this interview : )
~Thank you Ninie~
