Having been raised in the south, I am one biscuit lovin’ woman! Love, love, LOVE them! If I could have them Paul Dean style everyday I would! However, my heart & bum thank me for using this healthier & low-fat version. These puppies are a lot denser than your normal flakes of buttery heaven, so after a couple of them you are FULL! Imagine that. Don’t ask me how many calories & fat grams, cause I DUNNO! BUT, with the ingredients you will see a MUCH healthier version. Now get cooking!
Ingredients: 1 1/2 C Whole Wheat Flour
*1/2 C All purpose flour
*2 Tablespoons baking powder
*1/2 Teaspoon salt
*6 Tablespoons of flax seed (Just a quick shout out for Flax Seed-I buy Bob’s Red Mill Whole Ground Flaxseed meal. It’s super rich in fiber, lignans & omega-3 fats!)
*1 Cup skim milk
*2 Tablespoons sugar (I use Organic Sugar)
**Add the flour, baking powder, salt & flaxseed into a bowl & mix together
**Next, add the milk and MIX
**Put the batter on a floured board
**Knead, roll & cut into biscuits the size you would like
**Bake at 425 degrees for 12 minutes or so (Your not looking for a “browned” look, so test w/a fork in the middle)
Great with Agave Nectar (instead of honey) dabbed on or even put an egg in between w/veggie bacon and eat as a sandwich.
